چکیده

Abstract This study presents and discusses the possibility of using 3D printed polymer tools to achieve a flexible metal forming production line. An example is given design sheet part from tool printing actual evaluation achieved precision formed part. The time spent by engineer/operator during full process cycle documented compared it would take make corresponding conventional machining. savings revealed in paper are relevant for low number parts be manufacturing environment, while less mass where conventionally an attractive process. Besides invested engineer/operator, also important keep costs at minimum manufacturing. Therefore, comparison as made analysis considers cost raw materials, machine electricity consumption. environmental aspects considered, with lubricating oils greases typically used improve frictional conditions being replaced polymers, which themselves have anti-friction properties. Finally, recyclability significant when they only form few parts. Different types polymers strategies discussed relation alternative tools.

Paperboard Forming - Specifics Compared to Sheet Metal Forming

Growing demand for sustainable products has led to increased interest in the use of paperboard as a structural material. Paperboard products are almost exclusively manufactured by embossing, pulp molding, and bending processes. Other well-known forming methods, such as deep or stretch drawing, are only rarely applied to paperboard. This is primarily ascribed to the lack of knowledge concerning ...

Prediction of Instability in Planar Anisotropic Sheet Metal Forming Processes

In this paper instability of planar anisotropic sheet metal during a few forming processes is investigated for the first time. For this reason components of the constitutive tangent tensor for planar anisotropic sheets are developed. By using the above tensor location of necking is predicted. Direction of the shear band is also predicted using the acoustic tensor. A finite element program is pr...

Analytical Modeling of Axi-Symmetric Sheet Metal Forming

The cup drawing is a basic deep drawing process. Thus, understanding the mechanics ofthe cup drawing process helps in determining the general parameters that affect the deep drawingprocess. There are mainly two methods of analysis; experimental and analytical/numerical.Experimental analysis can be useful in analyzing the process to determine the process parameters thatproduce a defect free prod...

Multiscale Friction Modeling for Sheet Metal Forming

The most often used friction model for sheet metal forming simulations is the relative simple Coulomb friction model. This paper presents a more advanced friction model for large scale forming simulations based on the surface change on the micro-scale. The surface texture of a material changes when two surfaces are in contact under a normal load. This is caused by flattening due to combined nor...
